Clyde W. Sims, Jr. was born in 1946 and lives in the central Illinois town of Charleston with his wife Cheri. They have one grown son, Clyde W. Sims, III. Mr. Sims received BS and MA degrees in Art from Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Sims paints primarily landscpapes in oil, acrylic and watercolor of scenes not only in his native Illinois but the east cost and western lands of the U.S. He and his wife have traveled extensively in eastern Canada for over two decades, providing numerous opportunities for the wooded and mountaineous landscapes he likes to paint. Mr. Sims is a juried member or the Prairie Art Alliance in Springfield, Illinois and exhibits regularly in the group's two galleries, the H.D. Smith Gallery, located in the Hoogland Center for the Arts, and in Gallery II in downtown Springfield. Mr. Sims accepts commissions, in addition to his sales at the galleries.
Mr. Sims has also been a performing musician for over four decades, having performed for a variety of musical groups, playing guitar. He has performed in the area and as far away as Las Vegas. While still performing locally on the electric guitar with central Illinois rock group "JIm Easter and the Artistics". He is currently embarking on a part-time career as a soloist, playing acoustic guitar music for small gatherings.
